RECENT DEVELOPMENTS

May 2012 : Pansky Markle Ham LLP has been selected for inclusion in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®.

May 2012 : Ellen A. Pansky and James I. Ham attended the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers Sixth International Meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 2-4, 2012. James Ham was a panelist on a program focused on conflicts of interest and choice of law in cross-border transactions entitled "Conflicts and Choice of Law Updates." Ellen Pansky led the Roundtable Discussion of Turkish Women Attorneys, with Turkish guest speakers Bilge Kockaya and Habibe Iyimayi Kayaaslan. The two also met with the Dean of Yeditepe University's law school, faculty from Yeditepe and other law schools, concerning legal issues of importance in Turkey today, and toured a new courthouse in Istanbul with a local prosecutor and Yeditepe University law graduate.

February 23, 2012: Ellen Pansky participated in the National Association of Women Lawyers 2012 Mid-Year Program, "Reaching For The Stars." In addition to serving as panelist on the CLE program, "Effective Networking: New Tools In A New Era In Law", Ms. Pansky served as a member of the programming committee. The compelling day-long event and luncheon honoring Hon. Dorothy W. Nelson and Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc. was attended by over 200 people.

February 21, 2012: Jim Ham was reelected First Vice President of the Association of Discipline Defense Counsel for 2012-2013 year. ADDC is the Association for lawyers who represent lawyers and others in disciplinary, admissions and regulatory proceedings before the State Bar of California, the California Supreme Court and other disciplinary agencies.

January 31, 2012: Ellen Pansky has been named to the elite list of Top 50 Women Southern California Super Lawyers 2012. Ellen was also named a Southern California Super Lawyer again for 2012. Ellen has been selected to Southern California Super Lawyers since 2006.

January 25, 2012:
Ellen Pansky has been named an AV Preeminent Rated Lawyer by Lexis Nexus Martindale-Hubbell.

January 10, 2012:
 Ellen Pansky presented on the topic "Special Problems of Waiver of the Attorney-Client Privilege for In-House Counsel" to a private firm.

January 9, 2012:  The State Bar of California has renewed Pansky Markle Ham LLP's MCLE Multiple Activity Provider approval through December 31, 2014.

December 7, 2011:  Ellen Pansky presented her MCLE program, “If the State Bar Calls, Answer It!” to the Lawyers’ Club of Los Angeles County.

December 3, 2011:  Jim Ham was nominated for reappointment to the Board of California Indian Legal Services (“CILS”).  CILS is a public service law firm that provides legal services to needy California Indian communities and participates in public impact litigation.  Jim serves on the Board’s Executive and Finance Committees, among other Board Committees. 

December, 2011:  Jim Ham will be teaching Legal Professions at USC’s Gould School of Law again this spring.  The Legal Professions course introduces students to the role of the lawyer in society, history, and organization of the legal profession, alternate career patterns, conflicting duties, the adversary system, equal access to justice, and other issues of ethics and professional responsibility.  The course focuses on the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, as well as the New York and California rules, together with relevant ethics opinions and leading case law.   Jim has been teaching the Legal Professions class to LLM Students at USC since 2008.

November 23, 2011:  Pansky Markle Ham LLP was a supporter of the Black Women Lawyer’s wonderful soirée at Cicada in downtown Los Angeles.

November 10, 2011:  Pansky Markle Ham LLP was a supporter of the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation’s Casino Night.  The Los Angeles County Bar Foundation is “dedicated to improving the administration of justice, advancing the interests of the profession, and serving the public in law-related ways.”  The law firm and its partners each make an annual contribution to support the Foundation.

November 3, 2011:  Jim Ham and Ellen Pansky have been included in Pasadena Magazine’s list of Top Attorneys for 2011, in the areas of Legal Ethics and Law Practice Management, respectively, and attended the Top Attorneys reception held at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena.

September 21, 2011:  Pansky Markle Ham LLP was a Bronze sponsor of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles 2011 Annual Awards and Installation Dinner, and attended the reception held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

August, 2011: Pansky Markle Ham LLP was named a “Best Law Firm” by U.S. News and World Report for 2011-2012.

July 1, 2011:  Ellen Pansky was reappointed as Assistant Vice President of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Board of Trustees.
